Homeschooling

By April. Posted in Family, Homeschooling | 4 Comments »

I have decided to home school Joey. I thought about it a long time ago, but only briefly, as I was about to embark upon a home-based business journey that I am still currently traveling on.

How can I work at home and home school? But then I thought, “At least I work at home and not some place where I couldn’t just drop everything to explain why the sky is blue!”

By the way…Why is the sky blue?

Luckily I LOVE to read, so off to Amazon.com I went. This is the first book I purchased because the description just sounded so damn logical to me:

Dumbing Us Down (The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling)

Everyone should read this, even if you don’t have kids. Because guess what? You were “schooled” too. After reading this, you really feel like a big brainwashed zombie.

Next came Getting Started on Home Learning: How and Why to Teach Your Kids at Home, and a plethora of other wonderful homeschooling books. I have read 8 homeschooling books in one week. Sleep? Who needs it! I have books!

I removed Joey from public school on Thursday Oct 12th. One of his classmates called him that same night to chat (A GIRL!!!). My baby is growing up too fast!

So when I have time, my next entry will be about WHY I made this decision.

P.S. If anyone dares to make a stupid “but what about socialization” comment, I will stab them in the pinky toe.
